Elementary: Wild West Faith

Bible Story: David and Goliath

Bible Verses: 1 Samuel 17:25-49

Need to Know: God can make the impossible, possible.

Lesson: In the Old West, two gunfighters would meet face to face in the final showdown. In today’s class we saw how young David met the giant Goliath for a showdown on the battlefield – Goliath with his spear and heavy armor, David with only a few stones and a sling. David met his adversary with confidence in the Lord in one of the most famous showdowns in history! The class had a showdown of their own as they tried to hit targets in an epic boys vs girls Nerf shootout! We ended the class with David & Goliath Bingo. We spent the morning exploring how David had confidence and faith that God would help him to overcome the Giant, just like God can help us overcome the giants in our own lives!

Bible Story: The Fiery Furnace

Bible Verses: Daniel 3:1-27

Need to Know: God’s Word helps me!

Bible Story: It’s hard to believe we are into August! Today’s lesson brought excitement as the kids learned how God saved Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego after the King threw them into a fiery furnace because they refused to worship the golden statue. God had sent an angel to help and protect them. The class learned that as we continue to read God’s word and the stories, just like this one, that shows us how God helps us!

The class made their own fiery furnace crafts and had fun playing games to remind them of what they learned in the story.
